Shield The Vulnerable Child Protection Training

Saint Timothy’s Catholic Church wholeheartedly supports the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s commitment to the safety of children and youth. We place great emphasis on ensuring that our children are provided with a safe environment to worship, learn, and grow in.

Dawn Hawes is the parish coordinator for child protection compliance. Any correspondence may be sent to the parish to her attention:

No one credibly accused of child sexual abuse may serve in any ministry in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Anyone who knows of or suspects child abuse by a priest, employee or volunteer of the Archdiocese should contact the Archdiocese immediately at (866) 417-7469, as well as the appropriate State authorities.
All Adult Ministers (18 and older) must register on the Virtus Online website and undergo training. There are two levels of training:

1. No Substantial Contact with Minors

Adults who will NOT be working with minors will need to register, read the two Archdiocese publications and answer some questions. Most Ushers, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Sacristans, Greeters, and Adult group leaders are in this category. If you ever expect to work around or with minors, please take the other option for training. Please register as a St. Timothy’s volunteer at www.virtusonline.org as a volunteer with Non-Substantial Contact with Minors.

2. Substantial Contact With Minors

Adults who will have contact with minors will need to register, provide references, complete the training, and have a background check run.  Volunteers for Faith Formation, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Vacation Bible School, and Childcare, follow these instructions. Please register as a St. Timothy volunteer at www.virtusonline.org as a volunteer with Substantial Contact with Children.
